We use various construction technologies for our TEXAPORE fabrics, from membranes and coatings to hybrid constructions and laminate linings. This enables us to address the specific levels of breathability and waterproofness that various outdoor activities require.
The weather protection layer is combined with a face (outer) fabric, which determines the additional characteristics, e.g. durability, texture and weight. As a rule, this is a 2 layer construction (face fabric + weather protection layer). In the 2.5 and 3 layer versions, a special layer or lining protects the weather protection layer; this is laminated to the weather protection layer and the face fabric.
Jackets and trousers with a double-layered construction are equipped with a loose lining. This means that they are slightly heavier and don’t pack down quite as small as triple-layered products. In double-layered TEXAPORE materials, the coating or membrane is permanently bound to the woven shell (support material).
Activities: day trips, weekend trips
In 2.5-layered TEXAPORE materials, the coating or membrane is permanently bound to the woven shell (support material) and is covered with an ultra-thin protective layer on the inside, meaning there is no need for a separate lining. 2.5-layered materials make extremely lightweight clothing with a very small pack size, but are also less hard-wearing than double-layered and triple-layered materials.
Activities: biking, trail running, etc.
The three components of triple-layered TEXAPORE materials are the shell, lining and the waterproof, breathable TEXAPORE membrane in between. All three layers are permanently bound to one another. Since the membrane is protected from either side by either a woven or a knitted material, this combination is very hard-wearing, yet still relatively lightweight and packs down small – perfect for trekking and mountain tours.
Activities: treks of several days, alpine hiking
TEXAPORE is also used in the form of a waterproof and breathable liner. The advantage here lies in the fact that only the seams of the liner itself need to be sealed, which allows greater freedom in the design and cut of the garment and gives the face fabric a more casual and flowing drape.
Activities: day trips, weekend trips
There are two versions of TEXAPORE lining:
TEXAPORE HYPROOF O3 takes weather protection to a new level. This remarkable shell fabric can withstand a water column pressure of 40 metres and has an MVTR of 30,000 g/m²/24 h (that's an amazing 3 litres of moisture vapour per hour over the whole jacket!). These incredible values guarantee that your jacket will keep you dry whatever the weather, even after years of use in the toughest conditions.
TEXAPORE AIR represents a quantum leap in wear comfort for weatherproof shell clothing. Instead of hermetic (airtight) waterproofing, the fabric works like a filter: it keeps rain out, but allows air in. The result is a combination of perfect weather protection and dynamic breathability, with an MVTR that increases the more active you are. In other words, it works as hard as you play.
TEXAPORE SMOOTHLIGHT is the smoother face of weatherproof shell clothing. The fabric is soft and supple, and less prone to rustling - a real plus in terms of wear comfort. It also boasts a seriously impressive weatherproof spec, with reliable protection from the wind and rain, excellent breathability and durability.
Our waterproof SUPERCHARGE softshell provides maximum wear comfort and optimum weather protection. Whether skiing, ice climbing or alpine hiking, this jacket is the all-rounder suitable for anywhere in any season. The extremely waterproof, stretchy triple-layered laminate is highly breathable, slightly insulating and pleasant to the touch. We’ve given this softshell a slightly wider cut, so you can wear another insulating layer underneath on cold days. The hood can be rolled up and is helmet-compatible. The side pockets are set higher up, so that you can still access their contents when wearing a rucksack with a waist belt.
The hybrid inner jacket is the highlight of this 3-in-1 trekking jacket. The upper body is well insulated and elastic softshell sections on the shoulders, sides and waistband provide greater freedom of movement. The double-layer laminate of the shell jacket is exceptionally waterproof and extremely breathable. The hard-wearing material features abrasion-resistant reinforcement on the shoulders. The particularly high collar provides exceptional protection from cold winds. Worn with the inner jacket, it’s perfect on tours which demand long-lasting weather protection, heat retention and freedom of movement.
'The stretchy one' in our range of 3-in-1 alpine jackets. The very waterproof and extremely breathable double-layer laminate possesses a level of flexibility that makes it something special. The sections subjected to extra strain are reinforced with a hard-wearing material. Underarm ventilation zips improve air circulation and thus enhance wear comfort. The collar finishes extra high in order to protect the face. The inner jacket is extremely lightweight, windproof and water-repellent. This jacket features warm synthetic fibrefill insulation and stretch fleece on the sides for excellent freedom of movement. The two jackets can be combined using snap fasteners.
The BIG WHITE jacket is waterproof, stretchy and extremely breathable, making it perfect for ambitious freeriders. The robust synthetic loose fibrefill insulation keeps you warm on even the coldest of days. We use a particularly abrasion-resistant material at points where skis and rucksacks cause extra friction. The combination of features sets this jacket apart from the rest. Underarm ventilation zips, a helmet-compatible hood, a removable snow skirt and a RECCO reflector all add up to one thing – this jacket is perfect for winter sports.
This synthetically insulated hiking jacket offers exceptional climate comfort: the weatherproof material is water and windproof, yet also air-permeable. This results in a constant flow of air which increases breathability. Because air circulation increases with movement, the more active your are, the more comfortable you are. Protection from the cold is guaranteed by the medium-warm synthetic insulation, which is also geared towards physically demanding activities.
Our waterproof and exceptionally warm down coat for women. The PARKSVILLE COAT features a herringbone-patterned outer material and a smart, feminine style. We have combined two materials to ensure high warmth retention: aside from the 80/20 duck down fill, we have used extremely warm synthetic insulation on the shoulders and seam, which is both moisture and pressure-resistant (e.g. from a bag strap) and keeps the cold at bay. The faux fur trim on the hood and additional fleece cuffs offer further protection.
TEXAPORE performance levels
TEXAPORE is the generic term for a range of breathable, weatherproof shell fabrics. To meet the varying demands placed on weatherproof shells by different kinds of outdoor activities we have developed several different versions of TEXAPORE with different performance levels. The performance levels are differentiated by their ratings for waterproofness and breathability and by their types of construction.
